Well, what a fantastic bridge the Beaver King is. So much for other " designer " bridges. This will wipe the ( factory ) floor with them. Super rich tone, volume and clarity. For $20 Canadian ? It's a give away.

Get one soon... before Dave get's too busy !

I am very pleased with this product and the service. The mute attaches very easy and once properly set the banjo sounds like an electric guitar unplugged. It is not a muted sound though which is good. My banjo keeps its tone and the notes ring out, nice and clear but just at a greatly reduced volume. Since I am new to the banjo I only know how to pick loud. I have a Goodtime Special Classic Resonator and it is great to be able to practice without bothering anyone in the house. I highly recommend this product. Before I purchased the mute I was banned to another room to practice. Thanks Mike.

The buzz is gone!!! Woo Hooo! This is a great bridge for lower head tensions. Well constructed, and sounds terrific. The engineering is very good as well. I think they call it a "no-direct-route" approach (every string's path through wood to the head is interrupted by open air). I am impressed.

But since fitting MIKE,S MUTE not asingle complaint from them.
i find that my rekording king still has a mellow tone but does sound much quiter, many thanks to mike for producing a simple but very affective mute

I have tried a number of high end bridges on my RB12, but I installed an AMB maple bridge today and I must say I am very impressed. It outperforms every bridge I currently own, and I have some good ones.

The tone is rich and clear with superb volume.

In short, if you are considering a new bridge, I suggest you try one of Tom's. They are excellent.

Very very nice! Hands down the best mute around and I've tried at least three others over the years. Each had issues and problems but this one is just perfect!
So easy to put on and take of and does the job.

Fantastic Bridges.I ordered a regular and a radius to try and was blown away!At first glance these bridges seem bulky with big feet but the composition of the old wood brings out a woody tone without sacrificing the bright tones at all.I would'nt thin them if I were you.I put the radius on a Huber Lancaster and the straight one on a Stelling Red Fox.We made sure the necks were tight and the other ends of the coordinater rods were only finger tight (super secret setup fact #007) and wa la .The Stelling really opened up.The Huber got a little woodier which it needed.Buy one ,experiment with your setup for a week or so and you'll see! The only detractor , If I had to find one would be the finish.I think it could be sanded smoother purly for asthetics but Dave does'nt charge that much for these things so I really should'nt rock the boat.

This is one incredible mute. It is the best there is including tone and ergnomics!

Finally a mute that fits the bridge quickly, easily and most importantly very securely!

No more vibrating off and the little case included is functional and much appreciated.

Mike, this model could make you a banjo players best friend world wide.

Many thanks from Canada,

Yours in Bluegrass,

Ron.

I was somewhat skeptical of this purchase. Like most banjo players, I've got a drawer of knick-knacks that I've purchased over the years. I got tired of the raspy sound of failing plastic thumbpicks. I've been playing the multi-colored Golden Gates and have been fairly happy with them up until recently. I decided to try one of the Red Bears since a genuine tortoise pick wasn't an option at the time. Glad I took a chance. It's a good pick. The sound is much better with this pick than with the Golden Gate regular plastic pick. The pick fits nicely and doesn't cut off the blood flow to my thumb. It isn't constrictive, but it also doesn't feel as though it will fly off, either. Time will tell with regards to how long this pick will last. My only concern is where the metal is joined to the pick material. That, to me, seems like the weakest point. If that holds, I believe the pick will last a long time. I would recommend this pick.

I reside with people who sleep so I have to mute the Deluxe between 10 and 2. This little mute works quite well. Much better than one that sits on top of the bridge. It's a tad tricky to use. I scratched my head nicely when I first put it on. It doesn't have to go all the way on to do its thing. Not sure how it'll wear but new it does what it's supposed to and relatively painlessly.

This was the easiest process by which to choose a bridge that I've ever been through. Mike emailed me some questions about my banjo and what kind of sound I was looking for. He sent six different bridges for my evaluation. For my Stelling Red Fox I settled on an 11/16 -select maple-purple ebony/topped-pegged bridge with Crowe spacing. This KatEyz bridge weighs 2.65 which is heavier than the other bridges that Mike sent. It is an outstanding bridge with a great sustain and clarity. Up the neck notes are especially clear and sustained and there is a great vibration that you feel while playing. Playing with a lighter touch really sounds sweet and "musical" with this bridge; a good difference betaween x and Y position without the extreme crackiness closer to the bridge. Each string gets equal treatment. The vollume increases with this bridge but it is not a harsher sound; just more of the potential in the banjo. I'm very pleased and plan on keeping this bridge on my Red Fox. I do not have a Pass rim on this banjo as it was one of the last made by Geoff prior to the Pass' installation. There is plenty of bottom-mid- and high end and the KatEyz bridge enhances it.

Although my 1987 Gibson ESS sounded good as it was, I decided to try a Snuffy Smith Bridge since most of the guys I know who play Gibson Banjo's all use them, and are very happy of how they inhanced the sound, volumn and tone. To sum it all up, I will probably never have anything other than Snuffy Smith Bridge, I am very satisfied, and wish I had put it on sooner. I am sure there are many good Bridges out there but for me it is "Snuffy Smith"

...after about three days on my Williams Grangeville (with Hatfield tone ring), I can say that anyone should give this bridge a try...with Dave's send-it-back-if-you-don't-like-it policy, how can you lose? Plus the price ($20) is lower than most "designer" bridges. Dave has done his homework, and his bridges belong in the upper echelons of banjo bridges. So sweet.

I searched on line for "THE" strap and Dave came through unquestionably. In a word ... exquisite ! His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and delivery time were not compromised, given he's a "one-man operation". And, for the outstanding quality, personalized design, & artistic workmanshp that go into each piece, the price is simply unbeatable. You won't find a better strap for your money. Search all you want. If only the BEST will do, look no further.

Just received my two straps I ordered, and I have to say they are both great! One just has the acorn/oak leaf pattern and the other is plain with an oval conho and shoulder pad. Dave worked with me over the phone (my wife says I'm high maintenance) and both straps came out nothing less than perfect. Have patience with email, or if your anecy just call Dave, he's a great fella.
Thanks Dave!

For as long as I can remember I have used a standard Shubb capo. Lately I thought I would try a Paige. Picked one up at FQMS for $16.95. It works real good. I like the fact it can stay on my Gibson and get me from Ab to B. I will just throw the Shubb in my pocket if I need to capo at the 5th fret. The Paige is smaller, lighter and less obstrusive. I still like the Shubb. It is needed for my other banjos because of their neck profiles. I think the Paige is a super bargain for a very effective capo. I think the larger model will work with banjos that have greater neck proportions. I got the black Paige as Murrell said they discontinued the nickle one. Mine is the smaller size for domestic neck profiles.
