The mute attaches very easy and once properly set the banjo sounds like an electric guitar unplugged. It is not a muted sound though which is good. My banjo keeps its tone and the notes ring out, nice and clear but just at a greatly reduced volume. Since I am new to the banjo I only know how to pick loud. I have a Goodtime Special Classic Resonator and it is great to be able to practice without bothering anyone in the house. I highly recommend this product.
